Consider A Poem

Purple Crow is in the food business. The company tries to match supply and demand for specialty foods, while honoring all the people involved in each transaction. The challenge of receiving orders from customers large and small and matching them with truckloads of supplies from near and far is a kind of everyday miracle in the marketplace that is matched by millions more companies that are doing the same, day after day and year after year.

It seems like there must be a Czar, or an Oz behind the curtain, directing it all.

“It’s A Wonderful Loaf” is the story of all this. This short film, produced by Hoover Institute, suggests that the process of providing people with bread is a kind of “marvel, a miracle” that proves the world is “somehow enchanted.” The market-directed system is “organic, and alive.”

It begs the question: could a Minister of Bread do better in meeting the ordinary needs of people than a free market economy?

We’ll let you answer the question, after watching this entertaining (and artistic!) video:
